Implementation of the source water
protection plans developed by St. Cloud, St. Paul, and Minneapolis will
be carried out primarily at the local level. The identification of
potential contaminants and their sources will provide the primary focus
on plan implementation. The Project will work to support local
government entities, including watershed groups, in selecting and
implementing best management practices and other source water protection
strategies. The Project will seek to recognize and support benefits to
the drinking water supply achieved by local efforts. Local Cooperation through this
Project will focus on:
- Establish working relationships
with key local watershed organizations.
- Understand those organizations'
strategic plans and identify areas of alignment with the UMRSWPP
goals and strategies.
- Identify specific projects or
aspects of projects that have direct correlation with the
implementation strategies in the source water protection plan.
- Identify and provide means to
support those projects.
